At the Turtle Park Co-op children learn through play, social interactions and direct interactions with caring adults. The teacher is joined by two to three parents each day who help her lead the class. The children range in age from two-and-a-half to four years old.
Class is Monday through Friday from 9 am to noon.
The co-op provides a stimulating learning environment for all the children where developing different skills is encouraged – from drawing and singing to dancing and listening. Their day begins with playing inside the rec center followed by circle time.
After this the children engage in a project that is either directed by a parent or the teacher. Then there is story time and healthy snacks. Later the children have their playtime where, weather permitting, they play in the play ground or ride bikes on the basketball court.
The park and its facilities are an integral part of the children’s learning environment and we appreciate all that the community does to ensure they have a great place to go every day.
